THE FAMILY continues to be a primary source of cultural socialization, personal stability, and ideally, families cultivate a sense of belonging, uniqueness, and safety for all members. Families are defined by interdependence and a shared history and future between two or more persons. They are bound by birth, legal arrangement, or emotional commitment. Our definition of family includes both traditional and emerging forms of this most powerful of social units.
OUR MISSION: The Family Communication Consortium (FCC) promotes healthy family communication through the research, teaching, and service activities of ASU faculty and students. The FCC is the site of interdisciplinary collaboration for ASU faculty and students from a wide variety of departments and disciplines, including but not limited to Communication Studies, Family Medicine, Mass Communication, Family Studies, Psychology, Nursing, Anthropology, Aging Studies, Sociology, Women’s Studies, and Geography. |
